Note: This is the first of two entries that together will make up the top 10 best watchfaces for Pebble Time and Pebble Time Steel. You can check out part 2 here. Development on faces optimized for the new color display has only just started, so make sure to check back here regularly as we will do our best to keep this list updated over time!

With Pebble Time and Pebble Time Steel featuring a new color display, watchface developers now have a whole new dimension of aesthetical aspects to play with. We’ve been poking around in the Pebble Appstore and also the community to give you what we think are the best watchfaces for Pebble Time and Pebble Time Steel – besides the standard watchfaces provided by Pebble. So without further ado, here are our top choices in no particular order.

Materials

The design language of materials is going to look familiar tostock Android 5.0 Lollipop users (Nexus lovers raise your hand!). The wallpaper looks almost as if Google themselves had designed it. While I wish it would incorporate a few more animations or color changes, it still is pretty to look at since it makes good use of the color display. There is no additional information like weather or battery displayed, which is why this watchface would make a great option for those who don’t want any distractions on their Pebble Time.

Enigma Slides of Time

Looks familiar? Slides of Time is a modified version of the original Enigma watchface. While it gives you the same feel, it also allows for a ton of options to be changed, e.g. displaying date, temperature, battery level or a random text in the rows above and below the time itself. The best feature, in my opinion, is that you can choose the time to be highlighted in many different colors.

Weather Land

Since this watchface is so prominently highlighted in the Pebble Appstore, it must be one of the most popular watchfaces out there. But hey, credit is due where credit is deserved! Weather Land doesn’t only look beaufitul, it also changes its appearance according to the current weather in your locatoin. Furthermore, the date, temperature and battery level are also displayed.

Analog

Analog keeps it simple by displaying the time in a classic fashion. You can adjust the handles to be in a certain color and even hide the seconds handle at certain times of the day (or always) to save that precious battery life. In the corners it shows you the remaining battery live, date, temperature and weather condition.

Straight

This is actually my personal favourite. I like how the “block”-design matches the form factor of the Pebble Time and avoids round shapes, which can look awkward at times on the Pebble Time’s display. It doesn’t try to be retro, classic or elegant. Instead, it goes for a much more contemporary style and embraces the capabalities and restrictions of the piece of technology that is the Pebble Time. The upper and lower half of the diplay are distinguished in different shades of the color of your choice and also show the typical data on battery life and weather using icons in mostly rectangular shapes. In my opinion, this really is an amazing watch face that deserves the recognition it gets among the community!
