Oh No, Another New Favorite Watch Face?!?! – DIN Time

Pebble Time with Michael – Day 16

DIN

Just a few days ago, I spoke of my then absolute favorite watch face: Straight. I’d always love it and never replace it in my heart as the best Pebble Time watch face ever. Right?

Of course not! Fickle person that I am, I’ve already moved on in my affections to another new watch face: DIN Time. It’s actually surprising to me just how much I like this watch face, because in some ways Straight is better than this watch face. What’s up with that?

The DIN Time watch face is somewhat customizeable, and provides me with the key information I look for in a watch face: time (of course!), day and date, current weather, and battery status. It will buzz if the Bluetooth connection with the phone is lost. It can also be configured to buzz every 60, 30, or even 15 minutes in order to provide tactile reporting of passing time (I don’t use this feature).

The most important customization feature to me of this watch face is the color/theme setting. I chose the Red theme and the result is shown in the picture. I think this watch face theme looks absolutely amazing with my red and black watch band, and my red and black Pebble Time. Of course, the color is also this watch face’s weakness to me. The red time digits are somewhat difficult to read in low light conditions. In fact, it’s much harder to read in low light than my previous favorite watch face, Straight. However, it looks so good to me that I’m willing to put up with this limitation.

DIN Time is not impossible to read in low light, just harder than Straight. Of course, a quick flick of my wrist with turn on the backlight and make it completely readable. DIN Time also doesn’t have anywhere near the customization options that Straight has, but given how good I think it looks I just don’t care!

I still sometimes use my favorite traditional watch face: Tally, in addition to DIN Time. I use Tally when I want my Pebble Time to most look like a traditional watch. I’m still convinced that it’s the best watch face for that purpose. Nevertheless, DIN Time is the watch face I now use most of the time. I think it just looks so good on my Pebble Time!
