What’s the Real Battery Life of a Pebble Time?

Pebble Time with Michael – Day 6

Battery Lifetime

Well I’ve now had enough experience with my Pebble Time to comment on its battery life – and for me, it’s no where near 7 days. 4 days seems the norm, which shouldn’t be all that surprising to long time Pebble users.

The picture shows the Battery Lifetime application I use to monitor my Pebble’s battery state. This application has been around for quite a while before the Pebble Time was even announced. It came with an option for showing status based on either a 4 or 7 day normal battery lifetime. As you can see in the picture I’ve got mine configured for the 4 day battery lifetime (the 4 dots above the battery graphic). Given that this app predates the Pebble Time, a 4-day battery life seems to have been common even with the original Pebble smartwatches.

Also, I’ve found a convenient charging schedule for my Pebble Time that doesn’t involve trying to keep track of 4 day cycles. When I’m about ready to shower and get dressed each day I just take off my watch and put it on the charging cable. I know I could wear my Pebble Time right in the shower, but I don’t see myself making any use of it during my morning rituals of getting ready for the day. It takes me around 30 minutes to shower and dress each morning. During this 1/2 hour period my Pebble will end up getting fully charged to a 100% battery level if I charge it thus daily. Of course, if I somehow forget to do this one day, I’ve still got 3 more days battery reserve. So all-in-all this approach seems to work best for me for keeping my Pebble Time charged in the simplest possible manner.
